John’s review published on Letterboxd:
A solid , well.made chiller, a good companion film to the original and a film that thanks to nia dacosta is stylish and oozes dread and has a slow burn creepy atmosphere. The kills are gory and imaginative and gruesome. The films themes and the origins of candyman are modernised and reflects today's issues about race. The beginning opening scene creeped me out. The leads are excellent here and the story builds until.the final act which pays off in a horrific satisfying way. The score is haunting and the scenes with the shadow puppets are haunting, creepy and beautiful. This is how a sequel should be done.
