Delayed writing this for a few days in case I was just being dramatic...but no, ROCKETMAN really did make me feel like a little kid witnessing movie magic for the first time. The perfectly extravagant and campy tribute to Elton John's legacy. Sure, there were flaws and moments of inconsistency that took me out of it, but I was honestly too distracted by the stars in my eyes to care!
Oh, and if the summer release date interferes with Taron Egerton's awards season chances I will be SO ANGRY because his performance was truly transcendent. Not gonna commit to this statement until I've sat with it a bit more, but quite possibly in my top 5 performances of all time.
