Judas and the Black Messiah ★★★★½

I don't really know what to say that hasn't already been said. It's immersive, intense, and impressively executed from both a filmmaking and an acting perspective.

Lakeith Stanfield gets better every performance I see him in. I became aware this time around how much he does with his eyes. His eyes are darting all over the place when he's confused, but when he feels strongly he stares someone down, almost not blinking. Kaluuya also blows me away here, and they play off each other perfectly, each absorbing themselves in the characters.

I appreciated the moral ambiguity of it all. It seemed the only true evil was the institutions and J Edgar Hoover, while the rest of the characters are shades of gray. Some choose to fight for what they believe in and some choose to sacrifice to their morals to save their own asses, but it ultimately lets you judge the characters.
