The Thin Red Line

The Thin Red Line ★★★★

When Steven Spielberg makes a war film, he makes a oscar bait war film that has really bad pacing issues. When my boy Terrence Malick makes a war film, he makes a great film that is beautifully shot. The film does have a couple of cliches that worked to it's detriment in the third act. Not all of the voice over narration was justified. There was some really bad line delivery here and there, especially in the first act. The worst offender was a terrible scene involving Woody Harrelson. You will know it, when you see it. Despite my gripes, I still think this is a great film that got overlooked due to Saving Private Ryan. 8/10
