The acting is serviceable, but the characters are largely one-dimensional and unlikable, making it difficult to care about their fates. The gore and violence are excessive and gratuitous, lacking the finesse and artistry of the genre's greats. That being said, "You're Next" does have its moments of dark humor, and the masked killers are effectively creepy. It's a shame that the film doesn't fully capitalize on its potential, instead feeling like a forgettable addition to the already crowded horror canon.
