Jameson Berthiaume’s review published on Letterboxd:
Mark Wahlberg was great, The Gambler was ok. It was a very slow-paced film. I didn't really care for the story all that much. But Wahlberg decided to show off his acting chops instead of his biceps in this one, which is always great to see. There are a couple scenes where he commands your attention. John Goodman was also a delight to watch. If you plan on seeing this I would check your expectations at the door, this isn't an action movie.
