CinemaStan’s review published on Letterboxd:
Finally got around to seeing this.
From the start to about 3/4 of the way in, I was absolutely hooked. It was tense, very atmospheric, kept you guessing about what was going on in all the right ways.
Toni Collette gives a stellar performance and every one else in the cast is really good too.
Then the ending came along. There was quite literally a single moment in which, as if someone flipped a switch, I became completely disconnected from what was happening.
I was no longer afraid, no longer disturbed, no longer curious. I found the ending obtuse and frustrating.
I was ready to give this movie a really high score, because it was deeply unnerving and yet morbidly mesmerising - but the ending was such a letdown.
