Neo-Poetic Realism

I got to thinking that while many are aware of poetic realism and it's French movement; not many notice that so many films are poetic realist pictures or at very least have some things in common with the filmic style found in La Grande Illusion, The Rules Of The Game, Children Of Paradise, and so forth.

Below are films that I've seen that display poetic realism in one way or another. I to some degree have an explanation for all of these picks but I'll keep that to myself so as to encourage discussion.

So, what do you think makes a poetic realist film a poetic realist film? What films not listed do you think fit the bill? Do you think one of the ones I listed doesn't belong? Etc?

2020 Update: Somehow people keep finding this list 6 years later, so I'll be updating it soon.
