  Got to see this classic on the big screen. (It used to be that you could hardly find a TV channel the week before Christmas that WASN’T playing this film. In my book, it’s kinda like Die Hard—it’s partially set on Christmas Eve, but debatable whether it qualifies as an actual “Christmas movie.”) Yes, it’s entirely sentimental but Frank Capra put together a great piece of work with strong performances from Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed, and all those in the supporting cast.

  I was disappointed when this film was released theatrically, particularly by the ending, but I must admit the Snyderverse has grown on me considerably, particularly after the re-cut versions of Batman vs. Superman and Justice League. This is still a flawed movie, but there’s lots in it to like.

  Having seen this film many times, I finally watched the extended edition, a rare version created for broadcast television. This cut aired over two nights, with almost 40 more minutes than the theatrical release.
