León ⚡ Serratos’s review published on Letterboxd:
«I was in Chaplin’s studio during his filming of The Kid.»
I can’t believe how many accomplished and revered filmmakers have not heard of AGB. Also, people not wanting to put Alice’s name on the films she directed is one thing (it is still shitty but I can understand—to a degree), but how come none of the dudes came forward to say they didn’t directed those films. There were plenty of opportunities but they were OK with getting the credit without doing the job. That’s shittier.
How does one have sense of cinema before cinema?
I’m such a nerd for film history and this goes to my sweet spot.
The locations section is wild, I love what the director did here visually combining actual places with scenes of Alice’s films.
