Boy meets girl in a coming of age classic. only the boys favourite activity is staging his own death and the girl is a few days from her 80th birthday. A huge influence on a lot of the indie comedy dramas of the last 50 years, especially the films of Wes Anderson. Certainly helps enjoyment levels if you like Cat Stevens music.

Chinatown lite...... and I really like Chinatown. Detective movies aren't really produced anymore and it's no wonder when a perfectly solid one like this gets slaughtered by critics and bombs. It's not as deep or epic as I think was intended but it's filled with little golden genre nuggets and great actors while Norton actually manages to keep the actorly shtick of his very academy award baiting character down. Absolutely recommended for people who want to see the likes of Sam Spade solve crimes on the silver screen on a weekly basis like back when what I assume was the good ole days.[63/100]

Detestable racism and Dietrich reduced to a bog standard love interest for two hateful men to fight for in a absurdly over the top fist fight.

A messy composite of influences tied with Lee's usual themes. Few movies have been released with so good timing as this. Happy to see all of the good will towards Spike and this is absolutely a joint.
