Gangs of New York ★★★★

It's overly long in that Scorsese way which I find more redundant than necessary, and much of the third act feels stuck in a build for an unclear conclusion. But the set design is incredible, the performances unanimously great, and the dialogue unforgettable. Scorsese may lose me a little with its bizarre editing indulgences here, but for a solid, sweeping history in brutality he has no reproach.
