I went into this thinking it was going to be a love story . . . and it kind of was.
In contrast to other films by Malick, this is a true eulogy to nature.
Nature always plays a big role in Malick's films, but this time around, its not that of a neutral character which man cannot relate to, but that of a motherly figure, which our characters experience a deep connection and possibly love towards.
This makes The New World one of the most beautiful love stories ever made, because it explores not only love between two humans, but between man and his world.
