Christian Childress’s review published on Letterboxd:
This is a film I don't know how to review due to how incredibly uneven it is. So, instead of a review here is my pros/cons list I wrote for this.
-Affleck. Murderous video game type Batman. This shit is gold. Give me more.
-Alfred with an edge played by the always wonderful Jeremy Irons.
-Wonder Woman. Damnnnn.
-The score. Oh, baby.
-Neil DeGrasse Tyson.
-Jesse Eisenberg acting like a maniac in such a self-serious film.
-Dream sequences looking dope.
-AMY ADAMS. Don't get me wrong Mrs. Adams is a fine actress but I hated her in this. Fuck Lois Lane.
-Scoot McNairy's entire subplot.
-ALL THE GOD IMAGERY. WE GET IT ZACK. WE GET IT. I don't need it force fed to me.
-Eisenberg acting like a maniac in such a self-serious film.
-The name Martha being Kryptonite to Batman. I'm calling bullshit. Batman wanted blood. I wanted blood. Instead I was left with disappointment.
-Dream sequences seeming unnecessary.
-The Justice League teasing.
-The Ending. Bleh.
Verdict- In a few years I believe this will be a guilty pleasure film for me. Not necessarily one that I'd call a "great film" but one that I can definitely enjoy through it's many flaws.
