The it was shot was cool and the beginning was promising, but it didn't really do anything new. I was hoping for more, especially with the painfully obvious "twist" ending, which was by far the weakest of the series. Chris Rock was pretty much the only entertaining part of the whole movie and IMO did good. I was hoping they'd do some crazy shit because wtf do they have to lose? It's fucking Saw 9. It's still probably the best sequel just for being really well made, or maybe I'm just sick of the other ones.
Watched the Ultimate Edition and am surprised at how good this movie actually is. I think if you can look past some of the unnecessary cgi Doomsday scenes that this might actually be one of, if not the best superhero movie. So visually satisfying and the action is on another level. Syder took all the great parts about Batman and superhero comics in general and mashed it into 3 hours. I feel like I could've watched another 2 hours of this and not been bored at all. Also, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex and Ben Affleck as Bruce are perfect I don't care what anyone says.
It feels like Fincher creates masterpieces with ease. Jake Gyllenhaal continues to be one of my favorite actors and the rest of the cast fell perfectly into place. The pacing was perfect which helped the 2 hour and 40 minutes runtime fly by and each scene kept me intrigued. Just so good all the way through.
