Interesting. Ambitious. Beautiful. Empty.
Guys. I don't know. Is this getting so much praise because it's got J-Law drinking heaps of alcohol and acting funny or because Bradley Cooper's curls are out of this world amazing? I really can't tell. Either way, the film is a great piece of work if you think about the technical aspects (except it's about 40 minutes too long!), with brilliant acting to boot from everyone involved. But the plot is old and presented in a way that is a little confusing, to be frank.
I can't agree with everyone who thinks this is a portrayal of love. For me, it's more a portrayal of the basic human need to feel loved. I really wanted to love it so much, but I just couldn't and ended up only barely liking it. Something was off and I don't know exactly what. It's beautifully shot and pretty darn well acted. But in the end, this film isn't a romantic tale of two people who meet and fall…
