    Uzumaki

To be fair, Akihiro Higuchi's movie adaptation of Uzumaki does have certain ambitions. Its wild cinematography and editing style don't always work to enhance the experience but when they do, it adds to the overall fever-dreamish atmosphere that fits this story of odd occurrences.
But when it doesn't work, it just comes off as cartoonish with corny transitions straight out of Windows Movie Maker or odd special effects like a small explosion gif when a character puts out a cigarette.…

    "Goddamn time-travelling robots!"

Maybe it's my general disconnect to this franchise and the fact I haven't seen any of the previous films in over a decade. But I went into this with no particular expectations and was mostly satisfied with a corny action sci-fi flick that embraced the wonky Hollywood logic and campy one-liners of the 80s and 90s with enthusiasm.

The discourse about "dark humor" and people being too easily offended is an incredibly tiring one. So every time I see an entertainer pick up that subject for a production, I can only roll my eyes.
Of course morbid humor can be funny and cathartic and helpful and what-not. But that doesn't mean that all…

"You know what my son brought me for breakfast this morning? Dog shit."

Uwe Boll's Auschwitz might be his most genius project.

This man's entire career is based on fraud and hate. He made money by getting the rights for videogame franchises (even though he hates videogames) and making deliberately terrible films that have barely anything to do with the source material. To add to his image, he makes fun of his critics and builds up a solid infamy that…
