The Father

The Father ★★★★

What I Expected: a heartrending but quirky British movie about dealing with a loved one suffering from dementia.

What I Found: One of the most unbearably tense and frightening films I've ever seen about *having* dementia.

Really reminded me of Polanski's The Tenant, in that it mostly takes place in one apartment and truly made me feel like I was losing my mind. The ending of this movie will absolutely crush you if you're brave enough to experience it. Just give God Hopkins another Oscar. He destroyed me.
