    Halloween

A dark, white trash meditation on nature vs nurture and the cycles of abuse. It's not elegant, but I think it’s powerful in a primal way.Β Zombie tried something radically different and auteur-ish with a well-established series, knowing the consequences. Love it

JFK Revisited: Through the Looking Glass

Mostly a retread of his 1991 opus with the addition of previously-sealed information, finally released in 2017 after Stone squeezed Congress in β€˜92. The rest of the film contains some of the most emotional and pressing testimony interspersed with photo/video I have ever seen in documentary filmmaking. Structure is key here.

Most compelling were the schemes of human scum/CIA director Allen Dulles and the terrifying plans of Operation Northwoods, whereby the CIA would secretly perform terrorist acts in the United States to justify bombings and an invasion of Cuba. As punctuated beautifully by Donald Sutherland’s solemn narration, β€œThe President declined the recommendation.”

    Stone’s best since W.

I was only repulsed by its immaturity.Β
Maniacal rapeΒ undermines attempts at emotion, among other things.Β No logic, no structure, no purpose.

Could’ve been a silent film; not a single line of dialogue informs character or story. At 52:50, there’s a 12-minute scene in which the RoC’s president announces, β€œWe don’t know what’s happening, but people are killing each other.”
I appreciate the movie taking time toΒ repeat info we’ve had since 0:05. Bewildering.

Knew this couldn’t have come from an Asian filmmaker. Jabbaz is an English-speaking, Canadian-born crypto nut. Your filmΒ
    is a garbage can.

ExtremelyΒ taxing, but it’s nice to be challenged.Β
Will always have respect for filmmakers who take chances. A big swing for Bacon.
