This is exactly the sort of gloomy, grayscale crap 
I hope for at the beginning of each year. Another victim of the Fox merger, offloaded without care. I should’ve been allowed to see this at Green Hills Stadium 16 (Nashville’s established geriatric theater) at 1pm on a Sunday. The place smells like mothballs and is the perfect home for this Gavin
Hood brand of softcore thriller. Fuck The Mouse

The comforting rumbles of the IMAX auditorium put me right to sleep during act 3. Woke up with a nice headache

The melodrama lacks Craven’s flair and every word out of Jasmin Brown‘s mouth is grade A dogshit. Act 1 is perfect, the rest is middling fun. Don’t bring your fucking kids to a rated R movie at 3 on a Monday

James Vanderbilt turns in a James Vanderbilt script. I’m still not thrilled with the direction we’re headed, but things are changing and I just have to get on board. Looks and (sometimes) acts like IV, which is all I can ask for

The Babadook; it’s an amazing meditation on motherhood and grief. Fuck off. I cannot forgive the shit script, but the rest is pretty neat. James Vanderbilt is no replacement for Kevin Williamson
