It's taken me close to a week to put my thoughts to paper after witnessing the world premiere of RABID in front of a packed out IMAX screen at Frightfest. The atmosphere at Frightfest is always amongst the best, it contains excited genre film fans who are looking to get the next kick out of something spooky, intense, gruesome or brilliant (sometimes all 4) and when the turn came for RABID, atmosphere was at fever pitch. The whole audience was…

Every so often a film hits you right in the nose and demands your attention, focus and wants to be the center of your everything. ONE CUT OF THE DEAD is one such film.

I don’t know anything about the behind the camera or crew work, I am simply a film fan who enjoys what is front of me, but that does not mean I can’t appreciate what goes on behind the scenes. OCOTD is like a sneak peek into…

For someone who has no idea about Warcraft and just wants a cosy afternoon movie that I may shut my eyes to, this did the trick nicely.

    Long Shot

    ★★★

Larry David continuing to do God’s work. Probably saves lives daily by just walking down the street (or by attending a sports game). In all seriousness it’s mad how fate or coincidence can play such a role in determining our roles in life. Fascinating story but perhaps let down slightly by its story telling.

I love horror and I have a soft spot for musicals so when I heard about this film I was all sorts of intrigued. For some reason, I was expecting something fairly average and ended up with a gourmet meal. This is the quintessential genre Christmas film.

ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE is beautiful to look at, wonderful characters and sets and is an extreme comfort on the eye but that is only the beginning. This film is a musical so…

    Summer of 84

    ★★★★

SUMMER OF 84 is the film the 2017 version of IT should have been between the Pennywise sections. The kids are brilliant in this, not over the top or over-dramatized, they feel entirely real and mischievous. They get comedy gold lines and enough solid interactions to make you feel fully invested in their journeys.

The film itself feels like the STRANGER THINGS have moved into THE ‘BURBS with wonderful characters that haven’t felt so likeable since TURBO KID. It is…
