Cole Turner’s review published on Letterboxd:
I love everything about this. Similar to The Lighthouse, another 10/10 movie for me this year, this feels like multiple genres in one. A comedy in one part, a drama in another, a heist in the next, a thriller in the one after, and so on. I've been a huge fan of Bong Joon-ho for basically my entire life. I watched The Host when I was 6 years old which was the first film I saw not in English and that got me into Korean cinema.
Even though I could care less about The Academy's shitty out of touch opinion I was so happy and crying a bit when he was finally awarded. I was a bit disappointed Kang-ho Song wasn't finally awarded as well with at least a nomination, but I wasn't surprised either. My one and only complaint is the overused Hollywood cliché violin sound effect used in one scene.
