Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

This is the most stylisticly striking marvel movie since gardians 1. It is possible to make a cohesive universe AND let a director go completely off! This is a Sam Raimi-ass Sam Raimi movie, equil parts Spiderman and Evil Dead. He pushes that pg13 rating right to the edge! And the cameos were fun.

Saw this in a tiny theater for the first time since it came out, I sat toward the front and let me tell you, this is a great movie to look up at.

For a movie from 1984 the editing feels extremely modern, I don't have the knowledge or vocabulary to express why exactly but there's humorous cuts and reaction shots and musical cues that remind of contemporary TV and movies that want to keep up a heighten, pithy, ironic vibe. Like when Mozart learns that his father died and it cuts to his face looking gobsmacked and then immediately cuts to an orchestra blast as the ghost of his father burst through…

    Black Widow

Underrated MCU movie. Definitely one of, if not the, darkest in the series. Some impressively brutal choreography and stunts, Props where they're due to ScarJo for being one of the frew action stars left who Takes Hits. The relationship between Nat and Yelena is the heart of it tho, one of the MCU's best duos, it's a shame we won't get more. Florence Pugh is a phenomenal, embodying a cool action spy and a snarky little sister simultaneously, going forward I hope they treat her character better than they did Natasha.

Rutger Hauer, the best to ever do it.

    Turning Red

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

Maybe the cutest movie I've ever see??? And an absolute master class in character animation! THE FACES!!
It's also just a beautiful story and a brilliant metaphor and it's just so warm and cozy and 2000's nostalgic. An argument with your mom that is actually a kaiju fight at a boy band concert is what animation was invented for.

    The Batman

I'm so close to giving this a perfect five stars. Every piece and element and component was perfect! How was this the best versions of these characters ever to appear on film? This movie gets Batman, not since mask of the phantasm has a movie gotten Batman to this degree, the sadness, the detecting, his limitations, all of it. And the city! My god this is probably the perfect blend of dirty and grounded yet Gothic and ancient Gotham has…
