Colin the dude’s review published on Letterboxd:
It's a rightly preposterous movie to begin with so I always approach it with a grain of salt, a superhero melodrama. It's still a comic book movie and follows comic book rules. Characters speak themes bluntly and often. Drama is heightened. It plays naturally campy elements straight. It tells it's story with a brooding and conceited style, but it's about a billionaire rogue who dresses up as a ninja bat to fight injustice as a vigilante. It stands apart from most superhero movies in portraying such a silly and pulpy premise in a believable alternate reality. It feels like this is really Batman's world. It only sells it easier when they add support from some of my favorite actors. Come on, they got Gary Oldman, Liam Neeson, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine, Tom Wilkinson, Rutger Hauer and Cillian Murphy in the same movie.
