The kind of film that makes you do a double take when walking through the dark to the bathroom after you've watched it. Truly creepy stuff and done almost gore-free. You know you're watching skilled horror when you're frightened just by atmosphere and faces and glances and mystery, silence, suggestion. It all adds up to an undefinable sense of dread that has been missing in horror cinema for so long but recently has become a coveted asset again with It Follows and others and I'm hopeful for horror's future. But this one is hardcore hip with its atmosphere. Like a 70s Winding Refn wet dream.
