Colin the dude’s review published on Letterboxd:
A marriage of silent film and a speech symphony. There are stretches where it is "silent film sequence" followed by "dense dialogue sequence". Rinse and repeat. But the crunching sound design persists. And the silent film acting "plunges through ye gullet". You can read the faces like it's 1926. 2019 was a great year for film, and deducing a year to best and worst is meaningless, but I'm sorry, Willem Dafoe gave the best performance of 2019. This man has done it all for nearly 40 years and still is at the peak of his powers. A national treasure.
