Robert Burke’s review published on Letterboxd:
Lacks the emotional gutpunch or sustainability of The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, but it really isn't intending for that. The Young Girls of Rochefort is beautifully stylized and wonderful crafted. I'll never really understand why so many people consider musicials their least favorite genre, since they always lend for enjoyable experiences. Technically this film isan absolute marvel, with so many colors and costumes making everything pop. Unfortunately, I wasn't invested in the story like I wanted to be, since the characters weren't strong enough for me. But the musical numbers and dance sequences were exquisite. Not as good as I was expecting, but still great.
