This was such a lovely experience, I was laughing, smiling, and brought to tears multiple times. The ultimate comfort film, and the song they had in the credits was so catchy. I’m always amazed at the art in these movies too and how you’ll see a few creatures that are kinda scary on first glance but they’re accepted into the film landscape and make everything so much more beautiful. I’m so glad I watched this in theaters too, wonderful. 🥰

Second viewing and this still goes so hard. Everything was turned up to 11. And earlier this week I saw a comparison between Gawain and Amleth and how both have an inescapable fate they most approach, that pov really added to this watch and made the boat scene so much more heartbreaking. My dad enjoyed it too, and he was definitely freaked out by THAT scene with Amleth and Queen Gudrún. Also, Robert Eggers’ fart jokes are top tier, love…

The Satan voice, the music, the score, the perfect jokes that string together so perfectly. I swear the pastor showing up right behind Matt with that noise was an Undertaker reference AND I LOVED IT!!! Just died laughing throughout this bc I mean I’m not catholic but Christian guilt around the whole subject of “premarital sex”😱is so insane it should really only be told in the form of comedy like how Dr. Strangelove was made.

I think what the world needs more than anything is a new Amy Heckerling movie. I have to see more of her stuff but Fast Times at Ridgemont High and this were just way too good. Also, Paul Rudd is always a sight. I definitely think there are good comedies like this still being made but it’s be amazing to see her come back and make one more. And that freeway scene is actually what it feels like getting on one of those for the first time it’s insane. Very good movie, laughed a lot, and will definitely have this ready as a feel-good rewatch.

Everything I could want from an epic revenge tale. Robert Eggers style fits so perfectly into this world of gods and witchcraft and revenge. Every speech sent chills down my spine. The fight scenes were amazing and everyone gave top of the line performances. And throughout the film Amleth continues to grow and become his own man. I will say two there were a couple scenes that I laughed at and I thought were like intentionally funny but the audience…
