Eric McDonough’s review published on Letterboxd:
The most fascinating aspect of The Two Towers on this rewatch was its editing. The 3 storylines (Frodo and the ring, Merry & Pippin and the Ents, and Rohan and the preparations for the Battle of Helm’s Deep) are edited together perfectly. They build, and build—and build—over the whopping four-hour runtime until each reaches a satisfying conclusion.
Editing all this footage in a way that would build tension gradually and remain clear, consistent in tone and pacing, and interesting throughout— it must have been a Herculean task. And it’s very effective.
