Connor Carey’s review published on Letterboxd:
While yes I wouldn't quite say this is as good as the first film mainly due to the extremely overlong runtime that is very much felt, it still might be the funnest and most entertaining entry into the series thus far. It contains easily the best action of the franchise with the escape scene and sword fight near the end being highlights and it has solid performances from the entire cast once again with Bill Nighy being the standout as the menacing villain. The special effects for the most part hold up great after ten years of release and the ending is just one great cliffhanger. It is a bit of a bummer to see Jack Sparrow to be more comical in this one rather than a mix of humor and bad ass in the first film. But those minor complaints I think "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" doesn't get enough credit, it's just such a fun time that entertains throughout.
