Seven Chances ★★★★

A hilarious, self-deprecating comedy by a man whose films tend to be excellent examples of both, Seven Chances gets most of its comedy from Buster’s awkward interactions with women and culminates in one of his best chase scenes. Creating a sense of real danger, the film sees Keaton dodge or absorb everything thrown at him, other than the women who want his hand in marriage. An inversion of the lady-chasing antics of more macho men, the film’s funniest sequence shows a horde of ragtag wannabe brides chasing Keaton through city streets, a truly brilliant moment in comedy.
