Third viewing, this one with the family. I remain in admiration of Fantastic Mr. Fox, but only at a distance. I can’t connect with the characters here as I do in most of Wes’ other work, but the staging and animation are as excellent as ever. This is a great voice cast at the top of its game and a team of craftspeople at the top of theirs. If it lands as just a tiny bit empty for me, sobeit. The wolf sequence is still a moment for the All-Time Wes Anderson Highlight Reel (which is definitely recorded on an actual physical reel).
