    Da 5 Bloods

I'll try to keep this short. The things I liked were the general energy and dialogue. Spike is great at monologues too and theres a really good monologue that really helped convey what I think Spike was going for. Ultimately though, this film felt sloppy.

The most notable element of this messiness was in the editing. It really did feel like there was one pass over where they missed a lot of trimming that needed to be done. If that…

  • Lords of Chaos

    Lords of Chaos

Really, super-mixed, film. While I don't claim to be into black metal, I was familiar with the band Mayhem. So I really don't know much about the scene, so take it with a grain of salt when I say this felt really phony. The casting and performances outside the actor playing Dead, really take away from any kind of authenticity. From what I read briefly, it also really does do a disservice to the real life people and story. I…

  • Bad Education

    Bad Education

So this is a very similar thing that happened at my elementary school, so maybe I'm not as blown away because this really just isn't a very unique story. I'll go further and say, the story itself is not interesting and that's a shame. I really like Thoroughbreds and what I think this shows is that Finely's talents are greatly amplified when its his material. Not to mention that Thoroughbreds is just a good screenplay, this screenplay is really boring,…

  • The Invisible Man

    The Invisible Man

They chose the wrong ending. It would be way more twisted, horrific, and pointed, if Elisabeth Moss stayed with him after the whole "surprise" payoff. It wouldn't make it much better but to me that ending would've hit way harder.

Just too much suspension of disbelief for how serious this film was taking itself. Also cut this shit down! It should be an hour forty max but it just gets so repetitive.

  • Downhill

When I saw Uncut Gems with my Mom back during the holidays and the trailers were playing, a trailer for this came on. I was excited to see this Uncut on the big screen and wasn't paying attention to trailers but as it started to sink in what this was, I turned to my Mom who was displaying the same expression of slack jaw. Suffice it to say, my day was ruined.

That being said, despite the huge number of…

  • The Grudge

    The Grudge

Theres a sequence in this with some dope lens flares that I immediately became infatuated with. Crispy flares bro, I dig it.

In defense of this movie, every scene is a spooky scene and I think Pesce knows it. I think hes actually very aware of what he's making and compared to other "fuck you, it's January movies" like the forest or some other trash I cant remember, Pesce delivers a film with a powerful visual sense. Sure there are…
