    Let Me In

The music and the way its used is maybe the worst aspect of the many failing elements that are this film. This is esspecially apparent after watching the Swedish film yesterday. Clay Jensen and his older brother played by young Karsten Runquist being bully the kid is pretty great.

    Jeffrey Epstein: Filthy Rich

This is such a weird documentary because it feels tactically structured. It comes off like propaganda by ommision. I think its obviously a good thing for sexual assault victims being given attention for sure, but this is not necessarily a story that is about sexual assault. I guess it is, the documentary selected what it wanted to be about and thats understandable. Then what are the last twenty minutes?

Listen, between this and Leaving Neverland, its really hard to understand…

  • Circle

You could maybe call this a guilty pleasure. The acting comitted but incompitent. The writing is absolutely abhorrent but hilarious. And its politics are poorly conveyed and even questionable at times. Quite honestly it has the subtlty of a Neoliberal dodging questions. Just a feeble attempt at being intelligent in any way shape or form. Sorry to tear down this movie and just condescendingly say its dumb, but it really is just so pretentous. The film tries to handle every…

    It Chapter Two

This movie sucked hard. I’m going to lay it out as plainly and simply as I can. Most of the actors are doing their best, the kids aren’t nearly as good or believable though. Speaking of them, the digital de-aging was terrible and the vast majority of their scenes sucked big time. The movie is shot fine, there are some creative sequences - the hallucination scene comes to mind. Uhhh that’s all the good I guess.

    The structure and the…

Bland and bad. I loved the Chucky series as a kid and this just doesn’t do it justice. For one, the kills and the comedy in them (all the comedy really) just sucked so bad. None of the kills were even slightly interesting, this just didn’t really feel like a horror movie let alone one good enough to encorporate comedic aspects. Why is this even a Chucky movie? Nothing even feels like Chucky, in content or spirit. Hot, hot, garbage.

  • Rings

While I haven’t had time to talk about any of the movies I’ve seen that are any good, I watched this last night and boy did it suck. I don’t watch a lot mainstream modern films but when I do it has a reason. I adore the Ring (2004). It’s not the best made movie and the writing is pretty muddled, but what that film offers is tone. The complete opposite of what this new film was about.

    The most…

  • Heroin(e)

How this was nominated for original short, I don’t know. The good of this is that it has the production value of a Drugs Inc. The bad is pretty much everything else. The officers really offer no insight other than, “wow isn’t Heroine really bad for society”. The addicts themselves also kind of offer nothing new that you probably already know. Just so manipulative and amateurly presented. That in tandem with the wasted opportunity to look into addiction, they just do the same thing Vice has been doing for years.
