Could have been a 5 star movie but I had to deduct half star simply because of how dour this is. One of the grittiest and most realistic crime films I have ever seen. I truly don’t know how the director even got this made with some of the things that happen but I’m glad they did. Absolutely worth checking out but I’d advise not watching it early in the day, not a pleasant after taste. Haha.

An incredible film. From the second it started I was in for the ride, one of the best opening scenes of all time. The cinematography is gorgeous, my favorite of Jack Cardiff’s which is a feat in itself. The story is beautiful and is brought to life by the fantastic performances of every actor in it. There are no duds here.
Can’t recommend this enough. An essential of cinema. Better than It’s A Wonderful Life in my opinion. If this had a Christmas tree in it it would be watched every year just like it.

Mind blowing I hadn’t seen this before and mind blowing that I had no idea that this started everything mumble core. There would be no Baumbach or Gerwig or Dunham if this movie did not exist. Criterion, how do you not release this?

I really enjoyed this, probably one of the better slashers I’ve seen. Despite a couple of not so amazing kills and a small lag in the middle the rest of the film is aces. The direction, cinematography, production design, color and sweeping soundtrack alone would give this 4 stars but Kate McNeils performance as the Final girl really blew me away. Her descent into madness at the end is fantastic, a breath of fresh air to most of the genre I’ve seen.
