I really enjoyed every scene with Mija. Can't say the same for the Swinton and Gyllenhaal characters, as much as I usually enjoy them as actors.

Absolutely watch Phoenix if you are ready to be totally absorbed by a beautiful, surreal meditation on love, betrayal, and the aftermath of war.

Wow, this was a fun watch! Lang's silent-filmmaking skills come through in his brilliant use of the camera to drive the plot.
Even though I don't know more than a couple words of German, I think I could have followed the plot with subtitles turned off, as long as there were subs for the wanted poster and letter to the police.
Philosophically, M raises some challenging ideas about hysteria, justice, culpability, but refuses to provide any easy answers leaving a lot to think about.
