Miles’s review published on Letterboxd:
In someone else's hands, Wilderpeople could easily have turned into a cliched, oversentimental children's movie. But Waititi creates a warm-hearted comedy that deftly sidesteps expectations and delivers lots of genuine laughs, backed up by an excellent soundtrack and beautiful scenery. I'm confident the laughs will still be there on a re-watch, just as they were with What We Do in the Shadows.
If possible, see this without watching the trailer first!
I'm glad for Waititi's success, but kind of bummed that he's going to spend the next while working on a Marvel movie.
