I kinda like the first one more, but this is so groovy
This is so much better than it has any right to be. And in the many different versions of this movies, in recent years, with 2 high profile stars of that year, almost all of them stink to high heaven. And yet this one, like cream, rises to the top. They actually have chemistry, are actual characters and both leads can actually act, unlike so many of the recent ones
This is so perfect because it has everything. You got peak 80s big business, new tech in an old world, inner city problems, fascination with the media and television, man's relationship with technology and so much more. Beside the obvious action bent of the film, the complex nature of the story is what elevates it to all time great status. There is so much in this, where I see a little more with each rewatch. At an Alamo Drafthouse they were selling pins and there was an OCP one, and so I bought it. It's up there with Die Hard as the best action films
"John Connor gave me a picture of you once. I didn't know why at the time. It was very old - torn, faded. You were young like you are now. You seemed just a little sad. I used to always wonder what you were thinking at that moment. I memorized every line, every curve... I came across time for you, Sarah. I love you. I always have."
What a line by legend Kyle Reese. And to think people like T2…
