Fabian’s review published on Letterboxd:
Eerie, captivating, complex – there are not enough words to describe Guillermo del Toro's groundbreaking masterpiece. Pan's Labyrinth might just be the most accessible and most (re)watchable dark fantasy film of this century so far.
With brilliant performances from Ivana Baquero, Sergi López and Maribel Verdú as well as a committed turn by chameleon Doug Jones, Pan's Labyrinth manages to be absorbing from the first minute.
It's outstanding in every moment of its brilliant direction, mostly with respect to the way it masterfully blends so many different genres, mostly fantasy, horror and war. Not really something to let your kids watch when they want something lighthearted, but still a phenomenal fantasy film that should not be missed.
