    I'm Thinking of Ending Things

Vizzini: Let me put it this way. Have you ever heard of Plato, Aristotle, Socrates?
    Westley: Yes?
    Vizzini: Idiots.

Materially indistinguishable from a crushingly hilarious parody of this type of movie, I am full blown The Emperor Has No Clothes on this one, folks. As a Kaufman fan, watching this made me feel like I will enjoy his previous movies less the next time I see them.

I deeply and sincerely love an earnest weird exploration of grief and mortality…

    Middleditch & Schwartz

There's a lot to be said for the simple joys of watching two good-natured funny people who like each other be skillfully silly for a few hours. I turned this on again while I was working, like some kind of nonsense podcast, and it was great for that. Love the very subdued feeling of escalating dares when they come up with an idea for something but then either try to foist it off on the other performer, or when they force each other into some bizarro tandem bit that requires them to read each other's mind.

I asked my two-year-old if she wanted to watch Babe with me.
"Hmmm... I like pigs. I like dogs. I like sheeps. I like you!"
This movie is perfect for those who like pigs, dogs, sheeps, and each other.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

After a bigger darker Star Wars movie that delved way deeper into the interior lives of these characters, their problems, their failures, their relationships with each other and their wavering commitments and growing obligations to an ill-fated coalition of good guys, the big finale was a lot of fun but much lighter on the lore and the character work.

It’s a relief that everybody is together more, it’s fun hanging out with Lando who is surprisingly still…
