Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood

Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood ★★★★

As expected, something that’s just going to age like wine. For someone who used to dig the brutality of a Tarantino film more than the heavy dialogue I’ve changed a lot as a viewer since. This one gives fans the two headed master split open on each side to see what makes him so appealing. I think the ending is a solid cherry on top but the time we spend in Hollywood with an aging actor and his aging friendship end up being the real cream of the crop. Still astonishing to think of the discourse that surrounded Margot Robbie/Sharon Tate and the lack of dialogue when this was the most respectful representation Tate has got on screen up to this point. A film with so much heart that even when things feel hollow because of your disconnect in the time period, you’re never looking away or losing interest.
