    Equal parts gorgeous and whimsical. The first Ghibli movie I've ever seen and it's really made an impression. There are a couple of issues with the screenplay but the characters are all interesting and feel fresh, especially in todays age of saturated animated stereotypical characters.     Really strong cinematography and characters, but the screenplay is a mixed bag. Half super compelling, half needlessly contrived with a number of distracting subplots that generally dont benefit the overall narrative. Generally compelling in spite of this, but probably won't watch again.

    After too long I finally watched this film for the first time today, and I enjoyed it very much. Every single character is interesting and entertaining; a testament to how well written it is.
