Christian Diaz’s review published on Letterboxd:
I think I finally understood what my problem was with this movie: it should have been named “The Lamplighter”. I heard some good things about Lin-Manuel Miranda but after seen this movie, it seems like he always wants the spotlight to himself. He starts and closes the story, and he has the two best sequences.
He is good, tho. I loved the Lamplighters sequence a lot. But the shining star should have been Emily Blunt, and it seems like she doesn’t matter at all.
Also, the 2D animation sequence were the kids are chasing the bad guys looked like it was done in Adobe Flash. It was awful.
I hope they don’t make another Mary Poppins movie in a long time.
