The 2010s—Top Documentary & Non-Fiction Films

The 100 highest-rated documentary and non-fiction feature films of the 2010s (as at 1 January 2020).

To be included, films had to be non-narrative, 60 minutes or longer, have a 1,000-view minimum, and have had a US theatrical release between 1/1/2010 and 12/31/2019 (with exceptions for films that had no US distribution). We have allowed TV and direct-to-streaming movies, but excluded direct-to-video/DVD movies such as making-of featurettes.

This list covers documentaries and non-fiction features such as concert films that have had a theatrical release, and long-form films that were released in their entirety in theaters, whether or not they had a later, episodic release on television. You won’t find stand-up comedy performances here, as they are in our 2010s Top…
