I was excited to watch The Favourite because of all the great reviews it had received, I didn't watch any trailers and I'm not into period pieces usually but this was an exception. It was a great film with fantastic performances and a great script that really put you into the time the film takes place in. I enjoyed the scheming nature of the film and I loved how it had two different ways of showing what a person would do just to come out on top. I thought Olivia Colman was fantastic as the queen and it was compelling seeing how she reacted to everything that both Rachel Weisz's character and Emma Stone's character were doing for her affection. I had never seen a film by Yorgos Lanthimos but now I'm intrigued by him as a filmmaker because this was fantastic. Overall, a really great film that I think even people who stay away from period films would enjoy.
