LONG LIVE THE NEW FLESH!!!! (Part Three)
After a first watch, this loose conclusion to a trilogy that includes Videodrome and eXistenZ is the most surreal and dream-like of any of Cronenberg's films and his first true 'body-horror' film since eXistenZ. Not for the squeamish, but not as audacious as Crash, with a story that's hard to pin down which is set in an undetermined future in a decaying and filthy city and focused on this civilization's obsession with performance surgery.
Beautiful visuals, excellent performances, and an inspired, truly Cronenbergian story.
An easy 8/10 and I can't wait to add it to my collection.
