Tooley I Am King’s review published on Letterboxd :
Well this is gonna be a weird review to write....
Full disclosure, this movie is based on my dad.
He’s one of the guys that’s been playing tag for 30 years. Because of this I was able to go to the world premiere tonight, which was insane (I met Eric Andre and nearly cried). Suffice it to say, I never thought my dad playing tag would lead to something this big.
But yeah, here we are.
I’ll fully admit I was concerned about the movie. I had no idea what to expect. But while I am probably very biased, I really, really enjoyed the film.
While Tag is certainly funny, the film goes beyond that. It’s honestly pretty heartfelt. The film captures what this game of tag has meant to these guys, and really highlights how it’s kept them all together over the years.
I’m really happy to say that I fully recommend this movie. As someone who’s been a part of this experience, I think they did a wonderful job.
