Everything in this movie is good. But I don’t think I’d call any of it great.
Move over Before Midnight and Return of the King. This is the greatest to conclusion to filmic trilogy that I have ever witnessed. While it may not defy convention like its predecessors (and for that I must deduct 1/2 star), it does present complex characters and morally grey themes. High School Musical 3 is here to ask hard questions, not to answer them.

Let me begin by saying the filmmaking in this is amazing. Everything from cinematography to sound mixing is impeccable.
The story, on the other hand, is a different matter. It seemed like for every one step forward there were two steps back. Anytime there was an interesting or tense scene, it would end after 10-20 seconds.
I just wanted the movie to end and not in a "I'm so scared I can't take it" sort of fashion.
That being said. This feels like the type of movie I will rewatch some years down the line and end up loving. I just don't love it right now.
