    Rebels of the Neon God

A cram school dropout. A pair of petty thieves. A carefree young woman. All drifting through the bustling bright darkness of Taipei. Arcades. Roller Rinks. Night Markets. Lost and found. Together, but not quite. Endless swarming traffic connected via a lifeblood of taxis and scooters. Refuge comes in the form of stained rooms, where kids can briefly reveal themselves before hiding once more in the apocalyptic adult uproar.

This was the gritty kind of Asia I grew up with. Every…

    Happy Old Year

Thai film about a woman decluttering junk and realizing that a lot of it comes attached with unresolved memories from all those that once occupied her world.
Refreshing her life takes an unexpected, exhausting emotional toll that she's forced to deal with, before she can completely disgard everything and move on.

I think a lot of us can relate when we're clearing out stuff we haven't seen in ages; handling each long forgotten item sends a flood of buried memories…

    Dumb Ass Notion

Social media cringe-fest revolving around self centred cringy characters with 15mins of infinite ammo violence tacked in an attempt to bolster its faux edginess.

I tuned out after 15mins of girls complaining that their lovers weren't eating them out and all older guys who don't look a certain way are rapists. I sat through this entire cancel culture fest, hopeful that maybe the main characters would die and the movie would redeem itself.

Another case of the poster being better than the movie. Don't let it fool you. #moviesthatlovethesmelloftheirownshit

Getting egged by the angry mob but not getting bacon

Big city high profile lawyer Ahn Jung-in returns to her hick hometown to defend her dementia ridden mother from multiple murder charges caused by poison rice wine. She faces the unrelenting hostility of the locals as well as those who have higher stakes in the case.

The vile disdain for anyone who is able to leave their place in the dirt and succeed can always be good entertainment. This film…

Office lady Shizuka is accidentally hypnotized and her life becomes a musical whenever she hears music. Of course, everyone else just sees a woman randomly singing and dancing, which is what makes this one a bit different.

Solidly campy performances throughout keep this mostly light-hearted, even as Shizuka's unwilling actions begin to cause chaotic destruction. The musical set pieces are a joy to watch and for me, they're kinda like witnessing…

    Black Widow

Black Widow family style adventures from Ohio USA to something something Russia.

Mostly well paced and kept me absorbed during the conversations between the 'family' members whenever it did slow down. As with most MCU films; there was always someone on screen who I wanted to hear from or see in action, so no real dull moments in that regard.

Really dug David Harbour's Alexei and was initially a little hesitant on Florence Pugh in the MCU, but she didn't…
