What exactly did I think of this picture? Actually, I don't know. There are a lot of aspects that are worth mentioning, and I really understand that this film had an impact, but still I have some thoughts.

First of all, there's the music. I'm a fan of filmscores anyway, and I'm also a fan of the music of Vangelis, but whether the music of Vangelis fits this picture? Personally, I don't think so. Probably because I prefer orchestral music in science-fiction stories. Without the synthy music the picture might have looked a little better to me with a better atmosphere.

Also, in my opinion there is far too little introduction. You're thrown into the story without a lot of context, apart from a small text in the intro. That makes it difficult to follow. The characters aren't introduced either, and that's an aspect I always like in pictures to generate a personal connection with them. There isn't much depth either, it's more like a sequence of events at times. All those things could be avoided by giving a longer introduction and more context.

What I did love was the dark, the raw and the gray. That makes this picture very industrial and I thought that was very cool. It's a very futuristic film for its time and you immediately think of very modern things, there are modern things though, but still the dirt and the darkness is always there. I absolutely adored that contrast. Some of the scenes somehow reminded me of the modern James Bond pictures. I don't know why.
